My journey with music

My journey with music began quite early on. I got my first keyboard lessons when I was 6 years old and switched to piano later on. Even though I found great enjoyment in playing classical composers, I always had the feeling that there was something missing. Hitting the right notes at the right time did not quite feel as fulfilling as I thought it would. During that time I struggled to keep practicing and thought about quitting  the piano. In the end I realized I could not go longer without music in my life and made an effort. I got quite ambitious about practice and even composing my own melodies. One day I felt asleep on a ferry in the holidays and woke up with a melody in my head. It was so fascinating that I forced myself to not forget it. When I was back home I composed my first piano piece based on this melody. Since I have always had a thing for poetry and writing, I began writing my first songs in my teenage-years. At that time I didn´t know any singers that could have performed my songs, so I got a job and took vocal lessons. I am making good progress, but there is still much work to do!

On a good day, My vocal ranges is about 3 octaves. In the morning, I am able to hit an E2 with some effort and can go up to a G5. However, the range is usually not the most important aspect of singing for me. If there is no control, a wide range is almost useless. My passagio still needs some serious work and my vocal control needs to strenghten. However, I try to get some practice several times a week, depending on my schedule.

Thank you very much for today’s field trip to Kottenforst and through the Annaberger Feld. In a small group, with good weather and high spirits, I thoroughly enjoyed walking through the countryside together, observing and listening to birds, discussing what we saw, and even having conversations on unrelated topics. I’m already looking forward to our next field trips together.
